Milestones


  • Meenakshi Venkatraman Foundation (MVF) was registered as a Public Charitable Trust on 24/1/2013 with registered no. 9/IV/2013
  • Purchased the first TEOAE screening OTO Dynamics, UK make from Starkey labs during September 2013
  • Started Free New Born Hearing Screening in Paediatrics NICU, Gandhi from Oct’ 13 taking the services of Helen Keller Institute. 480 babies were screened by March 2014.
  • Recruited first full time Post Graduate Audiologist cum Speech Language Pathologist Professional in Sept’14 & extended screening to Post Natal, Gandhi. Services of Sweekar Upkar were availed. 2790 babies of both NICU / Post Natal screened by March 2015.
  • United Care Developmental services (UC), NGO pioneers of free service through volunteers at Government Public Hospitals got a grant from Tata Trusts for purchase of screening and diagnostic instruments to extend scale up of MVF services to other Government Hospitals in May 2015.
  • UC gifted the instruments to MVF in August 2015 and became a Mentor.
  • Our pioneering free, professional services for the poor in Govt. Hospitals were well appreciated, recognised and honoured by Press, CSIM, Gandhi Hospital, Niloufer Hospital, Satya Sai Seva, Rotary Club and Seva Bharathi.
  • MVF extended screening services to Niloufer Hospital both Post Natal & NICU in May 2015 Koti & Petla Burj Hospitals in July 15 taking AYJNIHH, Secunderabad, BASLP Internship students.
  • MVF recruited second full time PG MSc (ASLP) in September 2015 & commenced BSERA / ABR Diagnostic services to babies at a dedicated facility in Gandhi.​
  • 26,270 babies screened both in Post Natal and NICU in 4 hospitals by March 2016.
  • Detailed Diagnostic BERA / ABR tests done for twice OAE referred babies at our own dedicated facility in Gandhi Hospital since August 2015.
  • Hearing impaired babies were given suitable intervention using hearing aids. Some babies were recommended for Cochlear implants after following necessary protocols.
  • Advocacy / Awareness were carried out by setting up booths in “Seva Mela” Expo & Public functions.
  • Participated in outreach camps in villages through Satya Sai Seva mission.
  • Facilitated, with support of Rotary Clubs, gifting of hearing aids to 1000 deaf children of four distrcits of Telangana by Starkey Foundation (USA) in August 2016.
  • Facilitated, with support of Rotary Clubs, gifting of hearing aids to 1000 deaf children of 10 districts of Telangana by Starkey Foundation (USA) in October 2017.
  • Recruited certified speech therapists and started Auditory Verbal Intervention (AVT) / Therapy in Gandhi OPD from mid-2017.
  • Recruited special educator and stepped up AVT / Special Education to 7 children from May 2018.
  • Screened approximately 27,000 babies in Gandhi hospital (21,000 post-natal and 6,000 NICU) and 53,000 babies (39,000 post-natal and 14,000 NICU) in other 3 hospitals.
  • Given training to 150 interns (4 th year students of BSc (ASLP) from AYNIHH / Sweekar / Helen Keller Colleges)
  • Donated free hearing aids with the support of Starkey Foundation, USA, to the beneficiaries during 2019.
  • Pooja ceremony of completed facility was attended by Superintendent of GH, President, Immediate past President, Treasurer and Senior members of GMCGA and GMCAA during July, 2019.
  • Soft launching of the facility was done during August, 2019.
  • Donation of Hearing aid pairs to the beneficiaries in the month of December, 2019.
  • Conducted free hearing aid servicing camps to the beneficiaries on December, 2019 in collaboration with Starkey Foundation, USA.
  • Conducted “School Hearing Screening Program” at Burgula, on 01 Feb 2020, during which 320 students were tested, 20 children needed ENT consultation for Middle ear pathologies.
  • Hon’ble Minister. Eatala Rajender, inaugurated the new Sound treated rooms for the public usage on 03 Feb.2020. New facility consists of a room for Auditory Brainstem Responses, a room for Behavioural Observation Audiometry, an Office room and two rooms for Auditory Verbal Therapy.
